Derek 'Hobbie' Klivian

Richard Oldfield is an American film and TV actor, writer and production assistant. Born in the United States, Oldfield moved to Britain and made his acting debut in the musical Hair at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London's West End in 1969. Later, between 1976 and 1977 he appeared as Burford Puckett of the United States Air Force in the British television serial Yanks Go Home.

His most known role was a minor one onscreen but a notable character in the overall Star Wars universe with appearances in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes, The Star Wars Rebels animated series and in the Star Wars comic books - Derek ‘Hobbie’ Klivian - Rogue 4 was originally trained as an imperial pilot at Skystrike Academy with Wedge Antilles but defected to the Rebel alliance after meeting Sabine Wren.

During a briefing in the Echo Base on Hoth, Richard (as Hobbie) asks Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), “Two fighters against a Star Destroyer?” to which she replies "The ion cannon will fire several shots to make sure any enemy ships will be out of your flight path. When you've gotten past the energy shield, proceed directly to the rendezvous point. Understood? Good luck." Sadly, Hobbie was unable to regroup with the Rebel alliance as he was killed when his snow speeder crashed into an AT-AT during the battle.

Richard’s other credits include roles in Omen III: The Final Conflict, Ragtime, The Lords of Discipline, Scream for Help, The Razor's Edge, and Lifeforce.
